Why Copper Water Bottles?
One benefit here is measured. The rest is tradition.
- It kills water-borne bacteria. A study in the Journal of Health, Population and Nutrition spiked water with the bacteria behind cholera, typhoid and dysentery. After 16 hours in a copper pot, none survived.
- The dose is safe. The copper that ends up in the water is under a tenth of the limit the WHO allows for drinking water.
- The rest is Ayurveda. Better digestion and immunity from tamra jal is an old practice, not proven science.
What is a lacquer coating?
Lacquer is a thin clear varnish sprayed onto copper so it stops tarnishing and keeps its shine. Where it sits decides everything.

A copper bottle weighs around 200-280 g. A listing quoting much more is probably giving you the packed weight, not the bottle. Some quote one, some the other, and handmade bottles vary anyway.
