Imported hardware or an Indian warranty — pick your trade-off
WYZE and Aqara lead on specs, but 98-99% of their ratings come from US and European buyers. We found only 4-11 verified Indian reviews each, and no Indian warranty on the listings.
Indian brands carry STQC certification and 2-year warranties, but their owners report far more failures. Of the 10 dual-use cameras we analysed, four failed our reliability rule outright.

The only Indian-brand dual-use camera with a solid review base that still passes our reliability rule. It is IP66 and STQC certified, with auto-tracking pan-tilt and colour floodlights. But recent buyers are turning on it, citing Wi-Fi setup failures, blurry video and the app.

Which indoor-outdoor WiFi camera to buy
Dual-use cameras split into imports with better hardware and Indian brands with local warranties, and neither side is flawless. If you'd rather skip the full comparison, these are the two worth choosing between.
For the best picture, buy the WYZE Cam v4 (₹5,999). It shows true colour at night and detects people, pets, vehicles and packages on the device. It records 24x7 to a 512 GB card for free. The trade-offs: only 11 Indian reviews, no Indian warranty, and the outdoor adapter is sold separately.
Check Price on Amazon →Want an Indian warranty for less? Get the MANOMAY Protect Pro (₹2,999). It is IP66, STQC certified and pans to track people, with a 2-year warranty. But 55% of the last six months' reviews are 1-2 stars, so treat it as a budget gamble and test it early.

-
Indoor-outdoor means IP65 plus a plan for the plug
A dual-use camera's body is IP65 or IP66. Its power connection usually is not.
- What IP65 means. Under the IP code, it is dust-tight and survives water jets. IP66 survives powerful jets.
- WYZE needs an extra adapter. Outdoors it needs the separate IP67 one.
- Aqara ships no adapter at all. You need a 5V/1A USB-C one.
Mount it under an eave and keep the joint indoors or sealed.
-
Check the temperature rating before a sunny wall
IP ratings say nothing about heat, and Indian summer walls get very hot.
- Aqara G100. Rated only to +40 °C.
- WYZE Cam v4. Rated to +45 °C.
- Where it works. Indoors, a veranda or a shaded porch is fine. A west-facing wall in direct sun is not.
-
Decide between pan-tilt and a wide fixed lens
For a single entrance, choose fixed. For a room or courtyard, choose pan-tilt.
- Fixed wide lens. The Aqara (140°) and WYZE v4 (120°) record their whole view all the time.
- Pan-tilt. The WYZE Pan v3, MANOMAY and Consistent cover more by moving, but only record where they point.
-
Colour at night needs light, not just IR
Every pick here offers some colour night mode. It only works when a spotlight or ambient light is on.
- IR is monochrome. Active infrared night vision shows a black-and-white image.
- Starlight sensors help. The WYZE cameras hold colour in low light for longer.
-
Know what needs a subscription
Every pick records continuously to a microSD card for free. Some smart features cost extra.
- WYZE. Some motion-event features sit behind Cam Plus.
- Aqara. Pet, vehicle and face recognition need a paid plan.
- Your own recorder. Aqara supports RTSP streaming, and the Trueview lists ONVIF.
-
Check the 2.4 GHz network and the certification
Every camera here connects on 2.4 GHz only, and the Indian brands carry STQC certification.
- 2.4 GHz reaches further. Building materials absorb 5 GHz more, which matters on a porch.
- STQC. It is India's security certification against MeitY's Essential Requirements.
