Understanding VA Rating & Wattage
Buy on watts, not VA. Sellers print VA because it is the bigger number, but watts decide whether your PC stays on.
- VA runs 0.55-0.72 to watts. A "1000VA" unit usually delivers 600W, and a "2000VA" unit 1200W.
- A desktop, monitor and router draw 200-400W. So 360W covers an office PC and 600-720W suits a mid-range desktop.
- Gaming rigs need 865W or more. That means a build with a 650W+ power supply.
Extra VA does not add runtime. The battery stores the energy.

Ignore a runtime figure unless it names a load. "Up to 75 minutes" is usually measured at a trivial draw.

Choose a line-interactive UPS for a computer. It corrects voltage through its AVR without draining the battery.
- It is a defined class. IEC 62040-3 is the international standard for specifying UPS performance and testing it.
- Transfer is fast enough. Units here switch in about 2-10 ms, so a PC keeps running.
- Pure sine is not on offer. Every unit here that publishes a waveform outputs a simulated sine wave.
A home inverter is a different product, built for fans and lights.

Desktop UPS units sold in India fall under BIS compulsory registration. A "BIS approved" line with no registration number gives you nothing to verify.
