The Quest 3S is the only standalone headset on Amazon.in with current Indian buyer evidence, and most of it is positive. It runs games, fitness apps and films on its own Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip. The display is Quest 2-class: LCD with Fresnel lenses. The weak point is the import route — open the box on delivery.

On paper the PS VR2 has the best display and the only eye tracking here. It only makes sense if you already own a PS5. The Indian buyer record on this importer listing is thin. Most complaints describe opened or used units, so check the seal before accepting delivery.

A headset earns a place here only if Indian buyers can vouch for it and it is actually on sale. If you would rather skip the full comparison, these are the two worth choosing between.
For most people, buy the Meta Quest 3S 128GB (₹43,900) — it is the only headset here that works on its own. It is also the cheaper of the two. You accept an LCD picture and an importer-backed warranty, so check the seal on delivery.

Standalone vs tethered VR
Start from the hardware you already own, not the spec sheet. That decides which headset makes sense.
- Standalone. The Meta Quest 3S runs everything itself. No PC, console or phone is needed.
- Console-tethered. The PS VR2 does nothing without a PS5. For a new buyer, its real cost is headset plus console.
- PC-tethered. These need a gaming PC with a strong graphics card.

Resolution and display quality
Compare resolution per eye and ignore "4K" on the listing. Listings often print combined or wrong figures.
- The PS VR2 listing is wrong. It claims "1920 x 1080" and "4K". Sony's own tech specs give 2000 x 2040 per eye on OLED.
- OLED beats LCD on contrast. OLED shows true blacks. LCD shows greyer blacks in dark scenes.

Lens type matters as much as pixel count
Fresnel lenses are lighter and cheaper, but only the centre is fully sharp. Pancake lenses are clearer edge to edge.
- Both picks use Fresnel. A Quest 3S vs Quest 3 spec comparison shows the 3S dropped the Quest 3's pancake lenses to cut the price.
- Find the sweet spot. Adjust the strap until text looks sharp in the centre. That fixes most "blurry" complaints.
- Glare rings are normal. Bright text on dark backgrounds can show faint rings through Fresnel lenses.

Game library considerations
Each headset lives inside one store. Pick the store whose games you want.
- Quest 3S. Games and apps come from the Meta Horizon Store and run on the headset itself.
- PS VR2. It plays PlayStation's VR library on a PS5. One Indian owner called it "ultra luxury" for the size of that library.
- Check region locks. One Indian PS VR2 buyer found the bundled game did not work in India.
